It is the shaker you reach for when you want more going on than salt and pepper.

Oaktown Spice Shop hand mixes this one in small batches from paprika, coconut and palm sugar, lemongrass, cayenne, and green chile. That stack gives it real umami and a complex sweetness most bbq rubs never get near. The lemongrass keeps it bright, the green chile and cayenne keep it honest, and the sugars caramelize into a dark, sticky bark over the coals.

Rub it on heavy before the meat hits the grate and let it set into a crust while it cooks. It works low and slow on the smoker or hot and fast over a hardwood fire, and it holds its own on the grill or under the broiler when the weather runs you inside.

Chicken thighs and grilled wings

Pork chops and pork shoulder

Baby back and spare ribs

Veggie skewers straight off the fire

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0792/0114/0836/files/oaktown-spice-shop-sweet-heat-bbq-rub-25oz-6911835.jpg?v=1788137280
